Gifts from the Heart
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the holiday season approaches, our community is abuzz with excitement—decorations, gatherings, and celebrations fill our days with joy and anticipation. Amid this festive flurry, we are reminded of the deeper purpose of this time of year: reflecting on our blessings and sharing them with others.
At our school, we strive to instill in our students the values of kindness, empathy, and generosity. Service is a cornerstone of these lessons, and the holiday season offers a perfect opportunity to implement these values.
This year, our students are engaging in a variety of service projects across grade levels:
First grade students are collecting items for Gifts for Baby Jesus.
Second grade students made thank-you cards for first responders, expressing their appreciation for those who serve and protect our community.
Third grade students collected items for the Second Chances Wildlife Center, supporting the care and rehabilitation of animals in need.
Fourth grade students wrote heartfelt letters to veterans, honoring their service and sacrifice.
Fifth and Sixth grade students collected blankets for Blanket Louisville, ensuring warmth and comfort for those in need during the winter months.
Seventh grade students are making Christmas cards for nursing homes.
Eighth grade students are collecting coats for Wrapped in God’s Warmth in January
Acts of service need not be grand to make an impact. Whether it’s donating to a food drive, volunteering time at a local shelter, or simply shoveling a neighbor’s driveway, every act of kindness creates a ripple effect that strengthens the bonds of our community.
Parents/guardians play a crucial role in modeling and encouraging this spirit of giving. By involving your children in acts of service, you teach them valuable life lessons about gratitude, humility, and the joy of helping others. Discuss with your family how you can make a difference together this season. Perhaps you’ll decide to adopt a family in need, visit a nursing home, or write letters to deployed service members.
As we celebrate the holidays, let us remember the power of service to unite us and bring light into the lives of others. Together, we can teach our children that the greatest gifts are those given from the heart.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to instill the value of service in our students. May your family experience the warmth and joy of this season in abundance.
Warmest Wishes,
Jessica Lefevre
It’s that time of year. The weather is turning colder, and it's time to bundle up outside. We do go outside for recess even when the weather is cold so please send your child with a coat, hat, and gloves. Students need to wear a Saint Gabriel sweatshirt with their uniform. All non-uniform sweatshirts or jackets are removed when inside. Be sure to LABEL these items so they can be returned if lost.
