Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents
Winter MAP testing continues next week. The schedule has been adjusted due to the snow days. Please make an extra effort to ensure your child arrives on time, eats breakfast, and has a snack on testing days. While MAP is only one snapshot of how your child is doing, it does provide valuable data to help teachers plan instruction to meet your child's learning needs.
Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, January 26 – January 31. Our school theme is "St. Gabriel is One of a 'Kind'" to go along with our "Be Kind" theme for the year. We hope you will join us our fun activities the whole week long! Catholic Schools Week
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the celebration of Catholic Schools Week (January 26th – January 31st), we are excited to share with you the many ways in which we will be honoring the value of Catholic education. This special week is an opportunity for us to come together as a community to celebrate the role that Catholic schools play in the lives of our students and families.
This year's theme is United in Faith and Community.” — a perfect reflection of what we strive to instill in our students every day. Catholic schools teach and embrace the whole person, body, mind and spirit. We all share this vision of faith that Christ is the foundation of Catholic education, which unites our school as a faith - filled community.
Faith plays a central role in uniting teachers, parents, and kids in a Catholic school by creating a shared sense of purpose, values, and community. Faith provides a moral compass for everyone involved. Teachers guide students with the principles of Catholic teaching, while parents reinforce these values at home. Together, they help shape children’s character and ethical decision-making, fostering a strong, unified approach to education and life.
In essence, faith serves as a common thread that ties the entire school community together, promoting not only academic success but also personal and spiritual growth. It helps everyone involved feel that they are part of something larger—building a supportive, loving, and unified school environment.
Our school theme for celebrating Catholic Schools Week is “ St. Gabriel is One of a Kind” to go along with our “Be Kind” theme for the year. We hope you will join us in our fun activities the whole week long!
Have a wonderful weekend, and we looking forward to celebrating Catholic Schools Week with you,
Jennifer Schulz
Assistant Principal
Ms. Riley Kirber will be our substitute for art starting Monday through winter break. Ms. Kirber graduated from EKU with a degree in interior design and is interested in pursuing her MAT in the fall. She is originally from Georgia and coaches rowing. We are excited to have Ms. Kirber join us.
Thank you to our families for working with us during carpool with the cold and snow. Here are some friendly reminders to keep everyone safe and things moving as quickly as possible:
Please drive slowly, especially in the back by the play park.
If you are picking up a preschool student, please make sure that you are checked in before leaving your car to do so.
Please pull all the way up to the cones and pull in close to one another so we can maximize our space.
Make sure to use the app or at least have your number readily available.
If you are in wave 2, patiently remain in your car. Students are not allowed passed the cones.
Cleaning out your closet and find some board games you no longer need? We would love to have them for indoor recess. When it's yucky weather outside, our students love to play games. Used games are perfectly fine if they have the pieces. Please bring them to the school office. Thank you for your donations!
