Dear Parents and Guardians,
This year our school's academic focus is on creating productive struggle and appropriate challenges for our students. This is being done in our classrooms, but how can you also create productive struggle at home and why would you want to?
Productive struggle is learning with effort. It empowers students to solve problems and think outside the box. Productive struggle leads to better learning. Children and adults who figure out a solution themselves build long term memory. Putting effort into learning teaches us that we can do more than we thought. Making a student stretch their brain is a good thing. However, it can lead to those at home problems:: “This is too hard!” “I don’t know what to do!” “Can’t you just tell me the answer!” As a parent you should start with praising your child for trying to persevere through the problem. Allow time for thinking. Guide your child to a solution-look in this paragraph. Praise the effort. Let kids know that not knowing the answer is not a failure but part of the process.
The struggle may not be fun, but it is necessary for growth and learning. The development of problem-solving skills, persistence and improved self-confidence all outweigh the downside.
Have a wonderful Christmas,
Denise Chancellor
Learning Coordinator

It is time to start thinking about enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year. This process will be a little different this year so please read carefully.
Many of you are familiar with the FACTS Management System for tuition payments and tuition assistance applications. This year Saint Gabriel School and Preschool will be transitioning to utilizing FACTS for enrollment as well. FACTS will replace the online registration system/ mailed tuition agreements that we used in the past, and families will use your same FACTS login. The hope is to streamline the registration experience for families.
