Robert TWELL was christened on 19 Apr 1741 in Osbournby, son of Edward TWELL and Jane GILBERT. He died in Horbling on 12 Mar 1824, age 84.

The name is spelled TWELL, TWELLS or TWELVES.

Osbournby is a village in southern Lincolnshire, England.

Robert TWELL married Ann WALKER in 19 May 1773 in Ingham, Lincolnshire, about 30 miles north of Osbournby. Ann was born about 1751, in Lincolnshire.

Robert and Ann both died in Mar 1824, and were buried on 12 Mar 1824 and 21 Mar 1824, respectively. Ann was 72 or 73 and Robert was almost 83.

Their daughter Mary, my 4g-grandmother, was christened on 13 Mar 1774 in Osbournby.

Several of my close matches on AncestryDNA have traced their ancestry back to Mary (TWELL) STURGES. See the William STURGES page for this. In addition, 3 of my close matches trace back to Edward TWELLS, born 25 Aug 1776 in Billinghay, Lincolnshire, England, son of Robert TWELLS and Ann WALKER, according to the TWELLS family tree on Ancestry. If true, this provides good evidence that I am a descendant of Robert and Ann. However, the TWELLS family tree does not mention Mary as a daughter of Robert and Ann.

Robert was 15 or older at the start of the Seven Years War (1756-1763), a global conflict in which a coalition of Britain and Prussia eventually prevailed over France, Russia, Spain and Sweden.

I don't have the worldwide license on Ancestry, and although I have found a few records on FamilySearch, I rely on research by others, who have the worldwide license, or who live in England. Some of the information below is not proven by me.
