Hawes, Richard 1585

Richard HAWES (1585 - 1665)

my 10g-grandparents

Richard HAWES was probably born in Prince's Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England, about 1585. He died at Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, between 9 Sep 1665, when he wrote his will, and 11 Jan 1665/66 when it was proved. [RHD, p. 16]

Several researchers have said Richard's birth date was 24 Jan 1580. That seems doubtful, since his father, Bennett HAWES, was born in 1565. It is also claimed that his wife was Susan DEAN (1584 - 1609). I have not seen evidence for either of these claims.

Richard removed to Great Missenden by 6 Nov 1609, as his son Richard was baptized there on that date.

For scale, they are about 6 miles apart, and the latter is 31 miles NW of downtown London.

He was the father of Richard HAWES the immigrant. See the Richard HAWES 1606 page. I'm not calling them Jr and Sr because there were many Richards in this family.

He may also have been the father of Elizabeth HAWES, baptized 3 Apr 1610 in Great Missenden, and died 13 Sep 1618, age 8. No other children are known.
