Beardsley, William

William BEARDSLEY (1605 - 1660) and Marie (1609 - ?) my 10g-grandparents

William BEARDSLEY was born about 1605 in Hertfordshire, England. He married Marie and they had 3 children, in Hertfordshire. They sailed from London on the Planter, commanded by Captain TRAVICE, on 2 Apr 1635. The family included:

William (30), Marie (26), and children Marie (4), John (2), Joseph (6 months)

They landed in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, where John became a freeman on 7 Dec 1636. Soon after, they moved on to the Colony of Connecticut, staying in Hartford and Wethersfield until 1638, when they went further west, and were among the founders of Stratford. William and Marie had 4 more children, in Stratford. [WRC, Vol. III, p. 1471 ff.]

In religion, William was a non-conformist, and this motivated his migration, always searching for a home where his beliefs would be accommodated.
