Lee, Nathaniel 1663
Nathaniel LEE (1663 - 1745) and Abigail WARNER (1673 - ?)
my 7g-grandparents
The parents of Nathaniel LEE (1700 - 1736) were Nathaniel LEE Sr and Abigail WARNER. From New England Marriages we have the record
LEE, Nathaniel (1663 - ) & Abigail [WARNER] (ca 1673 - ); b 1698; Westfield
I think the "b" indicates the date of the marriage, not birth, so they were married in 1698, in Westfield, Massachusetts Bay Colony. We also have approximate birth dates of 1663 and 1673 for Nathaniel and Abigail.
Nathaniel and Abigail had 9 children, of whom at least 6 died in infancy. Nathaniel LEE died 26 Apr 1745 in Westfield, at age 71 or 72. He outlived all but possibly 2 of his children. I don't have a date of death for Abigail, but she was still living on 28 Apr, 1717, at age 43-4.
Westfield, Massachusetts Town and Vital Records
(I think Daniell was born in 1698, not 1608.)
March 4, 1695, the town [Westfield] granted to Thomas Noble the liberty of the pines one half a mile square, to make "roysum" for three years. Similar grants were made at the same meeting to Nathaniel Lee, John Shepard and Samuel Allen.
[HWM, p. 142] [Roysum is a type of plum.]
Parents of Nathaniel and Abigail
There are two accounts of the parentage of Nathaniel LEE Sr. The first is that he was the son of Walten/Walter LEE, of Westfield. This is supported by the Town and Vital Records. That is, we know from the records that a Nathaniel LEE was born 25 Dec 1663 in Westfield, to Walter LEE. He is about the right age to be Nathaniel LEE Sr.
Another account [NA, p. 7] says that the Nathaniel LEE who married Abigail WARNER was the son of Ebenezer LEE and Abigail BULL, of Farmington. Ebenezer was the son of Thomas LEE, son of John LEE, the immigrant and early settler of Farmington. I think that Walter is the more likely ancestor of the LEE family I am researching, which had resided in Westfield for the previous 4 generations.
Abigail WARNER was the daughter of Daniel WARNER and Sarah ROE. See the Daniel WARNER page.
(Note: I had previously thought that Abigail's parents were Andrew WARNER and Rebecca FLETCHER. However, their daughter Abigail was born about 1663, and the marriage record, above, says that our Abigail was born about 1673. Each of these facts relies on only one record. However, the evidence now points more toward Daniel and Sarah. Thanks to Kristy OSTERGARD for bringing this to my attention.)

At least 6 out of 9 children died in infancy, or early childhood. One daughter, Marereet, and one son, Daniell, may have been more fortunate. They tried 3 times with the name Abigail. Only Nathaniel LEE Jr, my 6g-grandfather, is known to have survived to adulthood.
