BUICK CENTURY 56X WORK SESSION - Tuesday, October 25, 2011
Volunteers: Jim Baker, Bob Boorsma, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Conrad DeJong, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow.
Jim Baker continues to work on the custom built rotating bucket seats. Because these seats were missing from the car after GM got done owning the vehicle the seats now have to be built from the ground up.
Bob continues to disassemble the instrument panel from the original 56X as well as a parts car. He is removeing the best components to be restored. However, the original instrument panel has specific features as was as custom parts that will be saver and restored.
Today the instrument panel shell was dropped off at the sand blaster. Also, the new wiring harness was delivered today from YNZ wiring.
Bob also constructed a new desk for the Futurliner computer. Bob and Chuck installed the desk today. The next step is to bring a hard wire down from the house so that we will have internet service in the barn.
Dick Saddler and Jerry Bush continue to work on the wind wing brackets for the 1929-55X. These brackets had to be made from scratch and the balance of the work is being completed.
Connie, Art, and Chuck worked on locating the side body trim. At the same time Don M., Don F. and also Chuck worked on attaching new fasteners to the original side trim. We do have the left rear 1/4 panel trim missing from this car. This piece must be made yet.
Great progress today.
