Mar 26 2013 session with Jim Harger of G. R. Press and Photographer Chris Clark.
George Ferris suggested to Jim Harger of the GR Press that perhaps they would be interested in doing an article in their paper about VP Bill Mitchell's one-of-a-kind Buick Century 56X. As a result of George's suggestion, Jim with his photographer Chris, came to take a look.
Photo #1 shows Jim Harger and Don discussing the process of restoring a unique car.
Photo #2 - 5 shows Chris taking photographs of our running chassis.
Photo #6 shows Art working one of the head light outer rim being prepared for paint.
Photo #7 shows the aluminum rocker trim pieces being prepared.
After lunch Al, Del, and myself traveled to the upholster in Borculo, MI to pick up the 1929-55X sport touring car. The purpose of bringing it back to the shop was to install the roof bows. The upholster, Brian, was headed to Florida for spring break. That time break would allow us to do some work on this car plus installing the roof bows.
Photo #8 - 13 shows the 1929-55X and the great progress being made on the interior upholstery.
Photo # 14 - 16 shows the entire team who had just finished installing the roof bows.
Next week some other work will be performed and when Brian gets back then the car goes back into his shop for the balance of the interior, then the top, and finally the side curtains. Lots of detail yet. However, the car is looking outstanding.
