BUICK CENTURY 56X Work Session
Volunteers: Jim Baker, Al Batts, Bob Boorsma, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Ron Elzinga, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Paul Prinzing, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow.
Al continues to document our work session with his camera. Bob is in the process of disassembling, documenting, and labeling all the parts of the instrument panel. To me it looks like a bunch of noodles. The new wiring harness has been ordered but there is a lot of restoration work with individual parts of the instrument panel that first must be done.
Jerry Bush and Dick Saddler continue to work on the wind wing brackets for the 1929-55X . Although I had new ones made they were not make properly and they are making these parts usable.
I ask Del to work on a manifold that I had to purchase for my 1953 Buick Skylark as my old one was not usuable. This required extensive torch work and disassembly to make the replacement usuable. At the end of the work session he had it ready for sand blasting and painting and took it home for that work.
Ron, Paul, and Art worked on getting the left side trim pieces fitted to the front fender, the door, and the rear 1/4 panel. Don attemped to keep up with them in replacing broken studs and stripped out stud holes so these pieces could be attached to the body.
Chuck Snow worked at fitting the parade boots to the rear of the body. In the process he worked out how these were attached and designed a bracket that must be made from scratch that is missing. He was able to blow up one of the original GM photographs to confirm how the parade boots were fitted. Two of these brackets must be made, fitted, and then chrome plated. These are additional unique parts to this car.
Also Chuck has turned over to Ryan DeVries the patterns to make the rear side exhaust outlets.
Jim Baker has been building the under side of the rotating seat. He has a lot of parts fabricated and will shortly be starting the assembly.
