Subject: 56 X BUICK SESSION OCT. 28 2014
Al again gave us with his camera a running account of the restoration process.
Thanks Al.
The first photograph is of Gary and Cindi Meyer. Gary in his high school years, 1960's, owned this 1956X special and he and his buddies did a lot of running around in the car. He had numerous stories of street races, traveling to Florida in the car and more than I will put in this report. However, I do intend on extending his time with the car on a later report.
Photos #1 & #2 show the underside of the powered rotating seats. Since all the original wiring was gone as well as the original seats Jim Baker and Ken Tuinstra had to package everything under the seat to eliminate the wiring harness catching on the seat mechanism as it rotated. Great progress here.
Photo #4 shows the front left corner of the original body where further investigation has revealed where some additional electrical relays at one time existed.
Photo #7 shows that we are removing any part that will be required to complete this restoration. Del have been stripping this body and has some up with many parts and clips that will be required to finish this car.
Photo #9 we are now picking clean all clips to make sure we have every part needed for the future completion of this car.
Photo #10 does show a part that is missing. However the we need the opposite hand of the this part shown in the photo. This part is used at the end of the instrument panel. I am hoping Bill Nasburg out in the state of Washington might have a set of these parts as it will be difficult to make.
Not shown is the right side hood trim that is being worked on my Ron and Connie. This has been a difficult part to repair.
Bob continues to work on the instrument panel and all its components.
Both Dick Saddler and Dick Chambers have been working on small parts.
Chuck Snow does an outstanding job of finding parts on the internet that we can purchase,
Our current goal is to have all the chrome pieces plated by the end of February.
