The purpose of this website is to document information regarding a 1956 Buick Century convertible having the Special Order Plate Number "S.O.90022" dated 3-15-56. The vehicle is designated as the "1956X Century", which is the name of the vehicle as inscribed in the custom cast front grill nameplate.

The 1956X Century was developed at the GM Styling Studio under the direction of Bill Mitchell and probably Harley Earl. It is surmised, but undocumented, that the vehicle was created for the private use of Bill Mitchell.
