Subject: 56 X BUICK SESSION OCT 15 2013

Volunteers: Al Batts, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Connie DeJong, Ron Elzinga, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Chuck Snow.

Craig Riker, who does our chrome plating will be very interested in photos in this work report as it shows future parts coming to his shop as well as finished parts that are being assembled.

Al again has taken some outstanding photos that really show progress in this vehicle.

Photo #1 shows Dick Chambers making some holes a little larger to get a better fit on the front bumper to the body and grill.

Photo #2, here Don Feutz is working on preparing the upper door trim for final chrome plating.

Photo #3 shows the left hand upper door trim as he is doing final sanding and polishing. Don produces parts that are ready for chrome plating.

Photos #4 & 5 shows Ron Elzinga fitting the driving light bezels inside the front bumper bombs (DAGMARS) so they can also be sent to the chrome plate shop.

Photo #6 again shows Ron Elzinga but this time fitting the windshield wiper onto the windshield wiper motor shaft. I tried to fit it as did several others and Ron took on the challenge and finished this job on the 1929-55X.

Another job coming up on the 1929-55X will be the side curtains. I picked up the metal frames from the upholstery shop today. They will need repaired, sand blasted, and then painted. Then back to the upholstery shop as these metal frames are designed to fit inside the side curtains.

Photo #7 - WOW!! This is the rear bumper with its bottom 1/3 painted and most of the trim installed. It is really fun to start the assembly and see the results. Connie and Art did all of the painting and preparing the chrome bumper for painting. Others worked with Connie and Art in installing the lower trim pieces. If you look closely you will see end pieces which are ribbed and cast from brass. The vertical pieces are also brass castings. The only parts that are missing are the two "J" bars that I just recently took to the chrome plater.

Photo #8 shows the last two vertical bars not yet installed.

Photo #9 shows all the parts on the bumper except the "J" bars on the ends below the ribbed sections.

Photo #10 & 11 shows a set of keys with a special head stamped into them that Chuck Snow is holding.. The key on the left is exactly like the key that was in the ignition of the 1956X when I purchased the car. Chuck Snow found this set being sold on E-bay. So we decided to bid on it so that when the car is completed we can also have these keys cut for the glove box, console lids, and trunk lid lock. This set has never been cut for a lock. The stamped design is exactly the same emblem as in the front center of my 1942 Buick 56S. Anyone know the details of these special keys? Thanks Chuck for finding them!

Don Mayton continued to work on the electrical wiring on the driver's seat. He has been struggling with a floating ground for weeks and finally has it solved. Now we simply hook up a positive and negative wire from a battery and we have a 6 way power seat! Two way is 90 degree rotation and 6 way operation.

Del Carpenter took on several jobs one of which was doing some badly need repairs on our sand blaster cabinet. On our trip to the AACA meet in Hershey, PA last week he picked up new

gloves for the operation as the old gloves had some serious holes. In addition the glass was so dull due to the sand blasting operation you could hardly see through it. Del removed the

glass and now we have 2 new pieces to install.
