Subject: 56 X BUICK SESSION MAR 25 2014
VOLUNTEERS - Jim Baker, Don Mayton, Al Batts, Don Feutz, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Connie DeJong, Ron Elzinga, Art Miedema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow, Ken Tuinstra,
Prayer - We do have some health issues with some of our volunteers. Al Batt's wife is under hospice care at a Trillium In The Woods. She is comfortable there and being taken care of. Stu Allen's wife is fighting cancer. Stu lives in Virginia and he worked remotely on the Futurliner and he and Dean often work together on fuel problems. We need to continually pray for their wives health.
Photos #1 through #4 shows those gleaming Buick bumper bombs that with Ron's lead and who most folks in the shop have ended up helping Ron are now installed and wired
so that we can all enjoy their uniqueness as well as their beauty.
Ron and others also worked on the "J" bars that attach to the rear lower corner of the bumpers. These "J" bars are sandwiched between the upper portion of the rear bumper and the one of a kind ribbed section like shown on the front bumper. However, we do not have a photo of this yet. I will have Al take a photo for next week's report as these are beautiful also.
Photo #5 shows Don Feutz's hands as he does the final finishing of the custom manifold. We are very close to finishing up the buffing on this part.
Photo #6 & #7 shows the blower for the heater installed on the outer firewall. Art and Connie have been finding and painting the individual components that are restored and with the final
paint on these parts if these parts can be installed both Art and Connie install them. It is good to get these installed as we do not have to store them, we know where they are located, and if there is a problem then the problem is known.
Photo #8 is not a 56X part but the painted gas tank for the Buick D-45.
Buick D-45 - The Carburetor was installed today by Del and Jerry. All the plumbing was done and connections made. Yes the Buick started up but again it shut down after about 25 seconds of running. To eliminate any electrical issues the coil was changed along with the condenser. Still the same results. Del discovered some movement in the shaft at the distributor and plans to investigate. Del states that the timing continues to change after all the other things they have repaired to stop the timing from changing.
Don and Jim continue to work on the rotating seats. Jim is designing the powered head rest and gathering up material. Don is working on the skirt that goes on the outside of the driver's bucket seat.
Chuck continue to do a multitude of tasks and since he is so good at finding stuff on the web I frequently have him looking for all the things we keep needing. He is also working on laying
the fiber glass at home that goes behind the rear bucket seats. That job has to be done at home as he has the materials and tools at his shop.
Dick Saddler has finished up the grill and it will be taken to the chrome plate business the next trip.
Ken came to sort out more wiring issues and he is gathering up the correct wiring for the rotating bucket seats.
These is a separate e-mail out lining the progress on the 5 gang electrical window lift button and the progress on its completion.
Al continues to do the photographing to keep up our photo library and a visual of our restoration.
