BUICK 56X CENTURY WORK SESSION - January 25, 2011.
Volunteers: Mike Ball, Al Batts, Del Carpenter, Connie DeJong, Jerry Bush, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Paul Prinzing, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow, Dick Sorgen
Again a great series of photos by Al providing a photo history of this restoration. Although Dean Tryon in North Carolina is keeping a record of the hours that we are spending on this car I have failed to mention Dean by name. We are finding as we did on the Futurliner restoration restoration that that kind of information is vital for future references.
Connie and Art spent the day sanding, filling, priming, and then a final prime of all the brake parts, suspension parts, torque tube differential assembly.
Chuck and Jerry spent the day sorting out the final wiring of the lighting circuit of the new heated car lift room. Now that room is complete with lighting, a furnace, and a place to do work while staying warm. For those in the south Sunday we hit a low of -7 F degrees. Spring is somewhere!
Del and Don F. worked sorting out the stainless steel brake lines, gas lines, vacuum lines and all the clips that go with this car. Many of the old clips are broken so we had to order new ones. In order to sort everything out they had to go outside in the snow, shovel a foot of snow off the hood of a 1956 Buick Century parts car to look at how the lines were run in the engine compartment. (To bad Al did not take this photo.)
GM Media Archives has been doing a great job from working with Rich. One of the GMMA has informed Rich that he has found another SO reference to this car with more Micro Fische that yet has to be viewed.
The exciting thing I just learned from a call from Larry Faloon (GM Styling) is Christo (looking at the Micro Fische) has found some exciting photos. They would not tell me what they found but I will be at GM's Heritage Center tomorrow at the Chuck Jorgan event where they will be showing me what they have found.
Dick Saddler today set up his work area with a drill press and a vice loaned by Don Feutz so he can continue to work on making the letters.
Mike spent the day digging out Futurliner material that has been requested by the museum.
I probably have not covered everything but hit the highlights.
