Subject: 56 X BUICK SESSION NOV. 11 2014
Photo #1 We mentioned last week of the difficulty we have had in repairing the right hood trim. After a brief conference and a call to Ryan DeVries it was decided to mount the trim on an old rusty 1956 Buick hood and then take it to Ryan's shop to have them repair it as they are quite talented in doing such work. So what you see here is the rusty hood brought into the shop from outside.
Photo #2 shows the trim being laid against the feature line of the hood so that the fastening holes can be drilled. The trim piece has to fit tight onto the hood to keep it straight and level. Ron E. and Bob Boorsma are doing the work.
Later the hood was loaded into Bob's truck and delivered to Ryan's shop.
Photos #3 & #4 & #5 shows the fitting being done of the trim to the hood.
Photos #6 & #7 show preparation work for the chrome operation being done by Ron Feutz and Dick Saddler.
The 1966 Buick carburetor arrived from Dean in NC and then Jerry Bush and Del installed it. It was sweet music later when I heard the 66 Buick start. They did the usual setting the dwell and timing and had the car running what sounded great but by lunch they had determined that the new points were defective. After lunch new points were picked up. However by the end of the day with the instrumentation they determined that the timing at the distributor needs to be moved
one tooth. That will be next week's job.
Photo #8 shows one half of the boot latch that has to be remade from scratch. Although one has been made we determined it is simply not good enough so again back to the work shop.
Again Al does a great job with the camera.
