BUICK CENTURY 56X WORK REPORTS FOR MARCH 8 & 15, 2011

Sorry but I really got behind and have to combine the two weeks reports.

MARCH 8 Volunteers - Mike Ball, Al Batts, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow, Rick Sorgen

MARCH 15 Volunteers - Mike Ball, Jim Baker, Al Batts, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Ron Elzinga, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow.

Notice; Jim came out of hibernation and Ron showed up with a nice tan.

To sum up the two weeks here is the progress:

Del and his crew of helpers which included Jerry, Dick, Chuck, Ron and others has the frame well under way. The painted differential is now installed under the frame and the rear suspension components are being added. It is really starting to look like a frame.

Dick C., Don F. Art and others have been sanding and painting other front suspension components. Jerry and Art have been outside taking the inner front fenders off of a parts car as they are less rusted than the originals.

Don F., and Dick S. Dick C. have started preparing the wheel spinners for chrome plating. Soneone years ago apparently thought these were know-off hubs and beat the tar out of them.

Rick has taken home the letters that Dick S. and Don F. prepared to solder in the attaching studs.

Chuck S. is working on the interior. He discovered four (4) more unique parts for this car. On the metal panel that the rear bucket seats are attached to he found cover plates that were attached ( 14 screws/plate ) to close up the lightening holes. Normally in a production car to keep the weight out of the body lightening holes are stamped out. In this case they were filled with with panels made from heavy gage steel and a brass ring. In addition the two door inner panels had reinforcement plates attached to the area where the door pull arm rests are mounted.

Jim took on the challange to create the rotating mechanism for the two front bucket seats.
