Subject: 56 X BUICK SESSION OCT 14 2014
Again Al keeps a live record of all the activity with his camera. The photos are a very useful tool both now and in the future.
Photo #1 & #2 shows the upper instrument panel being cleaned up by Bob Boorsma. This part of the instrument panel is in almost perfect shape once Bob spent hours cleaning it up. He also sanded and painted the back side to stop the progress of surface rust.
Photos #3 & #4 show the right very long hood trim. This trim originally had to be made in two pieces because of its length. However, it has come apart at the welded joint. This piece is made of an outer rolled very narrow piece of stainless steel with another rolled piece of stainless steel welded to increase the strength of this long piece. This piece failed at the welded joint and we have been attempting to weld it back to gather once the weld is secure. Then this joint can be metal finished and sent to the chrome plate shop. The left hand piece is already back from the plate shop. Now to get this one ready. Connie and Ron are working on this piece.
Photos #5 & #6 show Ron fitting the rear trim for the convertible. Ron has been working on putting a stainless steel shine on these pieces. Ron does great work with the buffer.
Photos #7 & #8 show the deck lid with the actual color of the car. This part was being wet sanded. The next step is to fit the chrome strips on its surface to check for fit. The inner pad has long ago disappeared so another one has to be fitted and put into place.
Photo #9 show the working mechanism of the right rotating seat. A major re-engineering took place to reroute the wiring harness for this seat. Once this proves to be the answer then the left seat will also be disassembled to do the same thing. Ken Tuinstra and Jim Baker are working on this.
Dick Saddler and Don Feutz worked on some clips derusting them and then getting primer and then the final coat of paint on them.
Del and Jerry rerouted some wiring on the 66 wagon to make it easier to adjust the points as the distributor window was facing the wrong direction. The 66 Buick Wagon's carburetor is in North Carolina again being looked at by Dean Tryon to see what is wrong with it.
Our goal on the trim is to have it all ready for final fit by 2015. We still have a lot to do here.
We need to pray for Gail Snow as she has been having severe back problems. Also Dick Chambers wife Carolyn is still recovering from a fall from this summer. Continue to pray for ART.
