VOLUNTEERS - Mike Ball, Al Batts, Robert Boorsma, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Connie DeJong, Les Dewey, Ron Elzinga, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow, Rick Sorgen.
1956X BUICK CENTURY HISTORY - Rick continues to research history of this vehicle. He has contacted and interviewed several past owners varifying certain items and raising new questions.
WANTED - We have information that the car was driven around the "ROAD AMERICA" road race track only in demostraton by VP-GM Styling Bill Mitchell in the spring-summer of 1956. If you know anybody that is in to racing and would be able to inquire of this event we would appreciate it. Also, old racing magazines, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics could have photos? Rich also produced a 1956 paint chip chart that we have used to verify the "red" color as Seminole Red.
Al Batts continues to record a photograph history.
FRAME - The group, Dick Chambers, Connie DeJong, and Art has been working to get the frame sanded and pockets sand blasted, dents removed in preparation for priming. This frame was so good no repair patches had to be made.
Next the car rotator was assembled by Dick C., Connie, Ron, Les, Art, and others.
In preparation for the painting the frame was attached to a car rotator so the sides, undersides, top, and bottom could be painted. Shortly after lunch everything and everybody was ready. Ron and Art dressed as space men with their gogles and complete body coverings did the actual painting.
CAR HOIST ROOM - Although our builder, Bob Boorsma, has had shoulder surgery he was there directing our work. He has his right arm in a sling and cannot work with it but with his direction put Don M., Del, and Les to work on the room. Also we have a furnace ready to go up. Next we must contact the furnace folks to install the furnace as the inside trusses are 16' in this room and we have no equipment to install the furnace. The wiring is almost complete also.
A great day with lots of work accomplished. Don
