Subject: 56X BUICK SESSION MAR 19 2013
VOLUNTEERS: Jim Baker, Al Batts, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Ron Elzinga, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Chuck Snow.
We had another fore cast today of icy roads and blowing snow. However we did manage to finish some projects.
Photos #1, 2, & 3 shows the finished job that Del took on. Last week's photos show the dirty and grease covered engine-starter pan that is for the purpose of deflecting water, dirt, mud and whatever from the starter motor. Del cleaned, sand blasted and then primed this part along with two other small rocker
enclosure panels. Del took all these parts home and then painted them the correct red that the chassis of the Buick 56X was painted.
The three photo graphs show the completed parts ready to install. Del then jacked up the chassis and installed all three parts. The 3rd photo shows the part in place just below the left exhaust manifold. In fact you can see the end of the starter that the engine-starter pan is to protect from flying debris.
Photos #4, & 5 shows Art working on the rear bumper preparing it for the chrome plating process. Don was only holding the part while Art did the work.
Photo #6 shows Art opening up one of the slotted holes for fitting a previous part that had been chrome plated. Photo #7 shows that part now in place.
Photo # 8 shows both the chromed ribbed piece as well as the "J" bar. The "J" bar is also being prepared by Ron Elzinga for chrome plating.
Photos #9 & 10 shows more parts that Jerry has removed to start preparing for the chrome plating operation.
At the end of this work session the rear bumper was loaded into my wife's car and on Wednesday it was delivered to the chrome shop in Sylvania, Ohio.
