Volunteers Jim Baker, Al Batts, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Ron Elzinga, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow.
Al again is our photographer with fresh batteries.
Photo #1 Here you see a pair of tail light, back up, and the brake light housings. Don M. has just finished taking the complete assemblies apart so that each component can be repaired prior to chrome plating.
Photo #2 & #3. Can you guess you are looking at? This photo shows the original tail and brake light lens. Yes it is clear. There is another red plastic lens on the inside of the tail light to diffuse the light only when the brake light or the tail lights have been turned on. These clear plastic lens came with the car and the original photos show this clear plastic lens. The production cars all had red plastic lens. I had misplaced these lens and Chuck S. found them for us. Note on the 2nd photo you can see GUIDE name printed into the lens.
Photo #4 & 5 shows a regular production red lens. In addition to the original tail light assembly we had to disassemble tail light assemblies in order to have enough parts for restoring 2 complete tail light assemblies.
Photo #6 That is Dick Saddlers hands as he polishes one of the head light doors getting ready for the chrome operation.
Photo #7 shows Dick Chambers as he removes some prior copper from the back side of the rear bumper. Art also worked on this bumper as it had a lot of waves in it. It is almost ready to go to the chrome shop.
Photo #8 shows Dick Chambers, Art, and Ron with the torch making another repair.
Photo #9 - Here again is Dick C., Art and Ron repairing the rear bumper. We have put a lot of hours into both the front and rear bumpers. But with close to 60 years of bumps and dings, and rust I would believe that is common.
Photo#10 shows Jerry Bush's hands taking apart one side of the mechanism that raises the convertible top.
Photo #11,12 &13 shows one part as it is removed from the assembly.
Photo #14,shows Jim Baker removing some of his weld to prepare this seat bottom for painting.
Photo # 15 shows the foundation of the base for the foot pads that are in front of every seating position in the 56X. Chuck takes the measurements at our shop and then builds the pieces at home.
Photo # 16 shows Del doing some painting after he had sand blasted and primed some small parts.
