Subject: 56 X BUICK and 29 55 X BUICK SESSION OCT 29 2013
Volunteers - Jim Baker, Al Batts, Bob Boorsma, Jerry Bush, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Connie DeJong, Ron Elzinga, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow.
Photos #1 - 4 show the rear bumper installed on the completed chassis. The only thing missing is the "J" bars that are at the chrome plate shop. So many people worked on this bumper it is impossible to name
everyone without missing someone.
Photo #5 show those now focusing on the front bumper. Notice again the lower front corners are being prepared for the dark blue accent paint. Chuck and Art are looking over their work on the 29 side curtain frames..
Photo #6 shows Don F. finishing up the other hand of the door CV post. We now have a pair ready for the chrome plating operation.
Photos #7 & 8 show Dick Saddler as he works on the upper grill bar. Dick is almost done with this part for the chrome plate operation.
Photo #9 shows Dick Chambers as he works on one of the door frames that end up being sown inside the 1929-55X side curtains.
Photo #10 shows the final fitting that Ron Elzinga is doing to fit the driving light bezel inside the right bumper bomb. Photo is showing the bumper bomb in the upside down position.
Jim Baker continues to work on a new pan that holds the right passenger rotating seat's mechanism.
Del continues to work on the front bumper mounting hardware. Also Art and Connie prepared these front braces for the final paint and by the end of the work day they were in the final "red" paint.
Photos #11, 12, &13 show the complete plates with rubber gaskets to keep out engine heat and/or cold in winter. This is a real professional job by Del and Jerry.
Photos #14, 15, & 16 show the side curtain frames being fit after repair prior to paint.
Photos #17 & 18 shows the space between the front door side curtain frame and the rear door frame. Between these two side curtains there is a space for another rod of some sort which we do not have. We are copying this e-mail to Phil Green in Australia to see what sort of frame is suppose to be in this location as there is a receiver in the door for some sort of rod?
Al again continues to record the restoration through photos. Thanks Al!
