Al as usual does and outstanding job of taking our photos for our photo archives as well as keeping us straight in putting the car back together.
Jim continuous to work on the seat mechanism.
As you can see in the first couple of photographs that we now have new reproduced “gun sight” fender
emblems. Don Feutz had spent weeks taking the original gun sight emblems and filing and sanding the pits. However, after sending photos of the “gun sights” to the chrome plater he stated that he could not plate these as they would be too fragile when he finished his operations. Then, from one of the BCA followers of this project stated that he believed that the “gun sights” looked like the center “gun sight” this is part of the hood ornament on the 1954 Buick Skylark hood ornament. After doing further checking this was found to be true (Gary DiLillo) and next we discovered that these “gun sights” were being reproduced by Ken Mitson. So with a lot of help from Buick Club Members that belonged also to the 1953-1954 Buick Skylark club we solved this problem.
The next few photos show the location of these “gun sights” on the front fenders of the 56X. Chuck Snow did the location and drilling of the holes for these “gun sights” and then mounted them. Note the one-of-a-kind fender top spears that the “gun sights” fit into. Note the other trim pieces on both the hood and front fenders.
One photo shows Don F. working on polishing the trim. Also, when I looked at this photo I saw where my missing vise grips that I could not find today.
Some more photos of doing the hood trim work.
Connie welding up and repairing the bumper. Two trim pieces that Dick Saddler has ready for the chrome plater.
