1956X BUICK CENTURY WORK SESSION - January 11, 2011

VOLUNTEERS - Mike Ball, Al Batts, Bob Boorsma, Del Carpenter, Dick Chambers, Connie DeJong, Les Dewey, Ron Elzinga, Don Feutz, Don Mayton, Art Meidema, Dick Saddler, Chuck Snow, Rick Sorgen

There are 10 photos in this e-mail as well as the previous e-mail. From Al's photography you can see the work being done. First we removed the painted (Semiole Red) frame from the turnover, loaded it onto a wood buck and transported (fancy word for pushing) it from the west barn to the east barn.

After this was accomplished then part of the crew went to disassembly the remainder of the rear and front suspension so that these pieces could be sand blasted, sanded, primed, and ready for the final coat of paint. Some large components were loaded into the rear of my pickup and taken to the local sandblaster who lives about 2 miles away.

Dick Saddler continued to work on the individual "BUICK" and "CENTURY" letters that will end up on the hood and deck lid. Bob installed the frame work for the two doors on the now heated room where the car lift is located. That room now that it is heated is a welcome relief as the temperatures in the past two weeks has rarely got above 20F degrees. In fact during the work session we could not get #1 air compressor running as all the air lines were frozen with water from condensation. Later I ended up going to the hardware to purchase electric heat tape.
