we're all a little crazy

I chose to stick with portraits for this project. We were given the choice to continue our sustained investigation or do something else outside of our inquiry question and I chose to continue doing the same type of art as my sustained investigation. This project was part of my sustained investigation and is tied to the works I have been doing all year.
This project truly was an extension of the past few portraits because I used the exact same materials. It was done using acrylic paint, specifically red, blue, white and black, and it was also done on cardboard from the back of sketchbooks. When needed, I mixed new colors by combining the paints.
I tried to continue using a line to outline the facial features and then fill the spaces in with color. The lines were meant to be the boundaries of the darkest values or the creases and shadows created by them. I used the color as a way to add highlights and shadows where the outline wasn’t necessary. For this project, I finally did my background first. Usually I do it last and end up trying to go in around my foreground, but this time I did it first. This made my sketch a little harder but it was much easier later on in the project. My next steps could be to add maybe straight white to areas where it is still blue.
