circle project

I chose to create a circular canvas with a wave design going into the center, storm clouds, and two little ships struggling up the wave. I used oil pastel, watercolor, and acrylic to create my piece. I used unity on the waves how they are almost a mirror image. I didn't use as much value on this as I usually do but I used some on the storm clouds. I tried to use some movement by bringing white accents to the waves and highlighting around the ships.

There isn't a horizon due to the fact that it is a mirror image like creation. I had originally planned to only use oil pastels but I ended up having to use watercolor to blend the oil pastel because I had started on canvas. This blending worked a little bit but overall it still left some places where white showed through.

There wasn't much meaning behind the artwork and it related to my life because of the connection to school. Something I think I could revise in the future would be to add more watercolor in the waves to fill in the white spaces more, especially around the bottom of the waves where they meet.
