Beautiful Oops

Title: Alligator

Size: 6x7 inches

For this beautiful oops, I chose to make the ink spots footprints of an alligator. I thought the more elongated drops would be where the tail of the alligator was dragging on the ground. I tried to put the alligator in a sandy environment. This alligator has no particular relation to my life.

This painting was done in watercolor. I used a watercolor palette and mixed my colors from the ones that were provided on the palette. I did this on watercolor paper so the paper wouldn’t become saturated and rub off in pellets.

I used color in this painting. I used color to differentiate between the parts of the painting. The lines created by the intersection of the different colors also helps to section the painting into three distinct areas. Once I had my idea, this project came along quickly, but coming up with an idea was the most time consuming part. My next step would be to add some more texture to the alligator’s skin.
