For this assignment we were required to create a drawing from a prompt on a card. My prompt said “create a contraption that makes ice cream, takes photos, and tells time”. I used graphite pencils to make this piece, but we could have used anything. This specific artwork was drawn from a card with a prompt on it. I tried to fill the negative space as much as possible but there still is a lot of dead space where nothing is happening. I tried to use value and create a little shading on the actual contraption but It still looks like a outline that is vaguely shaded in.

In this artwork I used some value in trying to shade along the edges of the machine. I tried using form and tried to make the machine appear somewhat three dimensional but I don’t know if it worked or not. The space is somewhat utilized but not as much as it could have been. The project didn’t change too drastically over time but I think the biggest change was when I decided to try to give the machine some depth and value.

The artwork was created from a prompt which was meant to be random and it didn’t really have too much personal meaning. This particular project didn’t relate to my life other than it was a school assignment. If I was going to do this again I would definitely take more time to do it. I didn’t do my best work and I left it to the last minute and rushed through it.
