Facial features

My drawings were of different facial features from different angles. It was made using graphite and drawing from images found in a magazine. I used shading to create value and I just threw all the reference images onto one piece of paper and drew in the space between.

There weren't many design features used because I had everything on one paper and had floating facial features. Thus the piece didn't have much evolution from start to finish: It was fairly linear, just drawing the reference image. Over the course of the project I changed how much time I spent on each drawing, with the lips I spent much more time on it than I did on the profile nose.

The artwork was used to further my understanding of facial features and how to draw them well. It also was a good shading exercise (tortillons solve a lot of problems). These drawings helped me realize that to shade well I need to take my time and not do them last minute forcing me to rush. To improve this artwork I would probably redo most of my drawings. There are many that are very hard to recognize as facial features.
