PT ENGLAND SCHOOL POLICY 2002
ACTIVITY COSTS
INTRO
Our parents have every wish to support their children in their education but need the opportunity to budget for any financial support
Pt England School has opted in to the Government supported Donations Scheme. This means that whānau no longer have to pay for curriculum related trips, stationery and other costs realted to access to the curriculum.
The only exceptions from this scheme that schools may pass on costs for are school camps, after school activities and sports and digital learning devices e.g. student laptops.
OBJECTIVES
To establish an equitable system for paying for costs beyond the Schools Donations Scheme.
To avoid placing undue financial pressure on parents in any one school term.
To ensure that the greatest number of children possible, get to participate in extracurricular activity.
GUIDELINES
1. There are no School Fees, voluntary or otherwise at Pt England School. However, we do ask parents to contribute to cost of camps, after school sports and individual digital learner devices.
2.Parents will be informed, how much camps and all these other things will cost annually and this will be consulted to produce a partnership decision.
Parents will receive plenty of warning of what they will have to pay and what the money is for. We expect whanau to try to pay. We ask that in cases of hardship or difficulty, we will be able to have a conversation to work out how to help. We would not expect any child to be missing out unless there was a very serious reason why they could not join in! Certainly no child will miss out because of money!
3. In the first term when ChromeBook Contracts are being signed and contributions being made to consumables in the iPad Programme with uniforms being purchased, we will be especially careful to keep costs down and remember that the senior children will attend Pt England Camp. The BOT is now funding the cost of the swimming programme.
All trips, including the school picnic will be treated as free events for all learners.
4. Prices of camps and other expensive events will be negotiated annually based on what parents say they can afford.
Charitable provisions will be made via the pastoral care group for any family that can't afford things.
5. Pt England Whanau have offered that a $35 contribution p.a. toward theY1 - Y3 iPad Programme, replacing the previous stationery cost, would be a good way to support the school. We are grateful for this suggestion and contribution whenever whanau are able to afford this.
6. Pt England Whanau have agreed to a lease to own microfinance agreement currently running at $4.00 p.w. to acquire their learner's ChromeBooks. This agreement requires a $40 deposit, includes 3 yr extended warranty, 3 years zero excess insurance, a bag and in-school break fix opportunities. For families that cannot afford this package the Manaiakalani Education Trust and Pt England School have other methods of charitable support.
