CURRICULUM DELIVERY
INTRO:
National Education & Learning Priority 1:
The needs of individual students are at the centre of all teaching, learning and assessing.
Students are encouraged to acquire the knowledge, skills and understandings of the curriculum statements along with attitudes.
The curriculum is delivered in accordance with National Education and Learning Priorities and the National Curriculum Statements. The curriculum delivery will give centrality to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and operationalise Tapa Sā and Ka Hikitia
OBJECTIVES: To foster student achievement.
GUIDELINES:
1. Implement the New Zealand Curriculum which defines the learning philosophies, principles, aims, attitudes and achievement objectives together with the essential learning skills and Key Competencies. Ensure all new curricula are implemented on or ahead of time
2. Develop a variety of learning/teaching styles and strategies that are appropriate to the needs of students.
3. Monitor/record student progress against National Education and Learning Priorities and the New Zealand Curriculum using a variety of planned assessment procedures which are integrated into the teaching/learning programmes. Use Overall Teacher Judgement based on analysis of a variety of assessments, in order to report to parents the NZ public and the NZ Government
4. Identify barriers to learning for students and implement strategies to address these. Identify students at risk of not achieving and ensure programmes are in place to address this.
5. Provide educational opportunities for all groups of learners, i.e. inclusive programmes of work for all students.
6. Respect and draw upon the significant features of our diverse ethnic and cultural heritage.
7. Develop curriculum plans for the essential learning areas that reflect the special nature of the community and are maintained through self review.
8. Recognise parents as educators.
10. Provide ongoing teacher professional development as the necessary foundation for successful curriculum delivery.
11. Focus on Reading, Literacy, Numeracy and the Key Competencies as agreed by the BOT, Staff and Parent Body in order to ensure acquisition of skills and processes in the early years.
12. Include a focus on the CyberSmart curriculum and the Learn, Create, Share pedagogy.
13. School timetable must allow for unbroken hours of Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
14. Implement Pt England Learning Principles to suit the learning needs of our community.
15. Focus on integrated digital learning and effective emerging technologies as agreed by our Board & parent community as a means of ensuring an education advantage for our children
16. Integrate Te Ao Māori across all curriculum units of inquiry
