EQUITY, ACCESS & INCLUSION
INTRO:
The concept of equity must apply to all teaching practices, to the selection of learning materials and also to access by all students to learning programmes and physical resources.
OBJECTIVES:
To regularly analyse the current situation to identify the children who may be not reaching their full potential because of :
* religious practices
* family background
* gender, gender identity, or non binary status
* learning disabilities
* ethnicity
* culture
* physical disabilities
*lack of access
To provide equitable opportunities for ALL abilities, i.e. high, low, average.
To put into place systems which set teaching/learning objectives towards the goal of Equity, and procedures for evaluation and assessing these objectives.
Ensure Learning Activities, Experiences and Sequences have accessible 'on-ramps & high ceilings'
To promote the use of non-sexist, non-racist language, behaviour and resources.
To redress inequitable outcomes where they have been identified.
Ensure all learners have equitable access to the NZC
GUIDELINES:
1.Teachers will apply equity in the selection of teaching and learning materials to ensure that they meet the needs of all groups of children.
2.A programme of staff development on equity issues, teaching techniques and equitable role models will be implemented.
3.Positive feedback for children, demonstrating procedures that will be implemented.
4.Resources will reflect values, cultural differences of all groups of children at Pt. England School.
5.Criteria to measure and evaluate the implementation of the equity policy within each team will be developed.
6.Provisions will be made for all children to have access to broad based learning resources that cover all points of view.
