GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
INTRO:
It is recognised that the Board has the overall responsibility for the school, but to enable a school to function effectively, Board of Trustees and Principal must work together in a climate of mutual goodwill, respect, trust and co-operation.
OBJECTIVES:
To assist with classification of roles.
GUIDELINES:
1.The governance of Pt. England School is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees.
2.Governance means that the Board of Trustees is primarily concerned with the establishment of strategic goals for the school. This requires the Board of Trustees to establish policy, to monitor its implementation, to evaluate its results and to review the policy itself regularly. The governance requirements are set out clearly in the NELPS which arise out of the 2020 Education and Training Act.
3.The Management of Pt. England School is the responsibility of the Principal and staff.
4.Management means that the Principal and staff are concerned with the ways in which policy is carried out.
5.The Board of Trustees will meet its governance responsibilities by close contact and co-operation with the Principal, staff and school community.
6.The Principal and staff of Pt. England School will meet their management responsibilities by close contact and co-operation with the Board of Trustees and school community.
7. The Management Team will report regularly to the Board in all matters required to give the Board confidence that both management and governance requirements are being met
