PT ENGLAND SCHOOL POLICY

SEG PROGRAMME

INTRO:

PT England School BOT and Staff are committed to ensuring that the SEG funding received each year provides quality programmes of work , and support, to children at the school with specific needs.

GUIDELINES:

1. Children will be assessed schoolwide to determine their level of achievement in all areas.

2. At the beginning of each year, after consultation with classroom teachers children will be selected by members of the Special Needs committee to have support and teaching, funded by SEG to address or support their need.

3. The selection of children will be varied and flexible to cover a range of needs identified in a particular year and may cover remedial work, usually in the area of Literacy or extension programmes .

4. Appropriate staff will be employed, either Teachers or Support Staff to enable the identified needs to be met.

5. All children receiving SEG support will be assessed regularly as part of their programme and information gathered to enable the work to be specific and appropriate.

6. All SEG groups and programmes will be evaluated at the end of each term so any changes can be made to improve the teaching and learning and achievement levels.

7. Most SEG work will be done in small groups to enable the largest number of children to benefit from the funding.  We endeavour to organise the SEG in such a way that all children in need are able to benefit from the funding in some way during the year and that quality programmes and Staff enable our children to make measurable improvement in their level of achievement and meet their full potential.
