PT ENGLAND SCHOOL POLICY
STAFF ACTING AS EDUCATION CONSULTANTS
INTRODUCTION:
As more practising teachers are used to provide Inservice for a variety of organisations, we will afford opportunities to our staff whilst protecting the best interests of the children.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide clear statements to inform staff of how they might be involved in Inservice for other organisations.
2. To ensure a balance so that the best interests of children are protected
3. To protect the school from incurring expenses uneccessarily
GUIDELINES:
1. If staff are invited to act as consultants for outside organisations they will be encouraged to participate as long as it falls within the guidelines of this policy.
2. Teaching staff should not be removed from their classes for this purpose, more than three days in one term, and then only if it is deemed by the School Management that the class is in a settled and stable condition and that an adequate reliever is available
3. In the case of any staff member being used as a consultant, Teacher Release must be paid to the school, irrespective of whether the person is a classroom teacher or not.
4. In the case of Teacher Release not being used, the money will accrue to the school.
5. The individual consulting will be free to negotiate with the inviting organisation, what fee should be due to them for their time used preparing the material they present.
6. It is expected that these engagements will be clearly identified within the field of education.
