Enrolment
PT. ENGLAND SCHOOL POLICY
STUDENT ENROLMENT
OBJECTIVES:
1. To ensure enrolments meet the obligations of all NZ regulations.
2. To ensure excellent communication between families and the school as part of the enrolment process.
3. To ensure that the most beneficial placement takes place.
PROCEDURE:
1. We will hold set interview days for enrolments.
2. All families that are new to the school, on first contact with the school, will be given an enrolment package containing forms and information which are needed to secure enrolment. They will also be given a day and time at which they will come back for an Enrolment Appointment so that there is good communication between the school and the family right from the start.
3. Enrolment interview appointments can be made via the Office with most of the interviews being conducted by our Associate Principal or nominated person/s. The first day of any term shall be treated as an exception with some families being dealt with straight away and others being asked to come back the next day.
4. Children turning five whose family were already in the school, would still be able to begin school on their birthday.
5. Children turning 5 who have been in the area or have been in a local Kindy, should have pre-enrolled and made pre-enrolment visits to the school. Their caregivers should have already participated in an enrolment interview. These children should then be able to start school on their birthday.
6. On enrolling a new student, the person processing the enrolment will place the enrolment profile card in a new student profile folder and send to the classroom. Make sure the Office receives a copy of the enrolment form. If a similar folder turns up from the school of origin the class teacher will transfer the contents to our school’s folder and return the other one to the office.
7. The attachments to this policy will provide details of the information passed to caregivers, information to be supplied to the school and information to be supplied to the class teacher.
8. At the time of enrolment, permissions for such things as the Dental Clinic, CRE, the School Media & Publication protocols, Acquisition of Digital Learning Devices and the Public Health Nurse will be explained to Parents along with information about accessing the School Website, P.E.N.N and other Internet publications.
