STUDY & SABBATICAL LEAVE
INTRO:
From the beginning of 2002 the Primary Teachers Collective Agreement allowed for study leave for staff who win one of the National Study Awards to take a year's study leave. The contract also allows successful, Experienced Teachers to take sabbatical leave.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To enable the Board to make effective decisions about leave applications.
2. To encourage the use of the Study opportunities in this award.
GUIDELINES:
1.The Board will grant study leave to successful applicants for the National Study Awards, in line with section 6.6 of the Collective Agreement. This leave could be for up to one year.
2. The Board will expect to be told in advance that teachers are applying for a Study Award and not simply be told when the award is granted.
3. The Board will grant sabbatical leave in line with sections 6.7.1 - 6.7.2 in the Collective Agreement. The Board will expect at least 1 term's notice and will be insistent that all attestation criteria are met.
