POLICY MAKING
INTRODUCTION:
Policies will be required for school management, learning, support and the provision of resources to reflect the needs of the students and the school community.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide clear statements to inform staff, parents, guardians and the community.
2. To provide a reference point for decision making, planning and practice.
3. To promote school-wide programmes of work and development.
4. To provide broad outlines that focus on achievable and realistic outcomes
GUIDELINES:
1. Policy draft will be prepared and presented by the committee appointed for that area. It will be presented to the whole staff for consultation and to members of the school community where appropriate. It will then be presented to the Board for approval.
2. All new policy should be brief, free from jargon and where possible following the format modelled in this policy.
3. The BOT will ensure that policies take into account the character of the school as set out in the Charter, and practices laid down by the Ministry of Education or other applicable legislation.
4. Policies can be reviewed or altered at any stage, as needs arise but the review cycle detailed under BOT Review will be used as a default.
5. Pt England School Policies will be regarded as being in the public domain and will be available in an un-passworded form on the Pt England Website
6. Apart from the set review cycle, policies will also be reviewed by usage and real events. Where it becomes obvious through procedural need of from lack of robustness in practice, policies will reviewed & renewed
7. Because of the versatility of our online repositories, policies and procedures will be able to be regarded as living documents and will be able to be amended at any Board meeting.
