CHILDREN WHO NEED CHANGING AT SCHOOL
From time to time children need their clothing changed, because it is soiled or wet.
1.The parent or caregiver should be contacted if possible and asked to either bring clothing to school to change the child, or to take the child home to be changed.
2.If unable to contact the parents or caregivers, Toni, Garth or Russell are willing to supervise showering and changing.
3.If Toni or Russell are unavailable the Administration Staff would be expected to supervise showering and changing.
4.Teacher Aides should not be asked to shower or change children unless it is in their job description.
5.Should there be a 'mess' on the carpet or flooring in the classroom, or playground, the Property Manager needs to clean this up immediately.
Guidelines for Showering and Changing
a.Do not leave a class unsupervised.
b.At no time should an adult be alone with a child in the shower/toilet with the door closed.
c.Clothing is kept in various cupboards around the school.
d.If a child is changed into school clothing a letter, (available from the office), should go home with the child the same day, requesting the return of the clothes, washed, as soon as possible.
