EVACUATION NOTICES
Notices are displayed for the safety of all people in all rooms usually near the alarm activation point or exit door ways.
TRIAL EVACUATIONS
These are carried out one per term or within 6 months of a previous evacuation trial.
ASSEMBLY POINT
The evacuation assembly point is:
Field end of Te Kapua, facing the field (unless Te Kapua is compromised by emergency).
MEANS OF ESCAPE TO BE MONITORED
Checks of the means of escape will be undertaken at regular intervals to ensure that:
They are kept clear of obstacles at all times.
Exit doors are not locked, barred, or blocked so as to prevent occupants from leaving the building at any time.
Smoke control doors are to be kept closed. (Use of hold open devices that comply with the building code is permitted)
Passageways which are designed specifically for means of escape from fire are not used for storage or where refuse is allowed to accumulate.
Flammable liquids or materials will not be stored near or within any part of the building used as a means of escape from fire.

DUTIES OF WARDENS
Fire Warden
On hearing the Warning Signal
Evacuate occupants from the designated block via the nearest safe exit (Check all rooms including toilets)
Note the location of any persons remaining in the premises including disabled people
Report to the Building Warden and advise the status of the evacuation.
Building Warden
On hearing the Warning Signal
Ensure the Fire Service has been called DIAL 111
Check alarm panel (front foyer)
Receive status report from assistant building warden and teachers.
Advise the Fire Service on their arrival of the status of the evacuation
including the location of any disabled people.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR STAFF AND WARDENS
STAFF (If You Discover A Fire)
Raise the alarm immediately by operating the nearest fire alarm
Ensure the Fire Service has been notified (Dial 111). This can be done through the school office by the secretary prior to them leaving. Clearly state NAME and ADDRESS (include suburb and city) and the NATURE OF THE EMERGENCY (Fire or Alarm ringing etc.)
Leave immediately by the nearest escape route. Move quickly Do Not Run
Report to the designated assembly area.
Do not return to the building until the all clear has been given.
FIRE WARDENS (On Hearing The Alarm)
Initiate the Evacuation
Ensure the Block is evacuated including toilets etc.
Ensure the smoke stop doors on route of exit are closed.
Note the location of any person remaining in the building.
Report to the assembly area (check personnel)
Only if conditions permit and it is safe to do so should any attempt be made to extinguish the fire. (Persons remaining to extinguish the fire should have their location reported to the Building Warden).

Report to alarm pad in foyer
Await the reports from Wardens
Report to the Fire Service on arrival
ACTIVATION OF PT ENGLAND KINDY ALARM AND ATTACHED OUTDOOR TOILETS
Ensure the Fire Service has been called
Evacuate Te Kapua and Outdoor Toilets. If in class, stay in class unless asked to evacuate.
Evacuation if needed will be to hardcourt between Tm 5 & Tm 4
