God is Alive


Introduction

A. Isaiah 40:10-12, ... 21-26

1. The Almighty God -- Creator and Redeemer of man -- is strong.

2. He is active whereas the idols (v.18-20) are IN-animate chunks of wood or sculptures of precious metal.


B. God is Alive: which means ...

1. Alive is Dynamic, Active, Vital, Aware, or cognizant and perceptive. Exists, He is around!

-- He is not far from anyone of us, Acts 17:27.

2. James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

3. God is Dynamically involved in the affairs of this world.


I. We are precious in God's eyes.


A. Isaiah 43:4 Honored and loved

1. Genesis 17:1-2, 7...

a. Romans 4:11-12 the father of those who walk in the steps of faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised

b. Galatians 3:29 if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.


B. Exodus 19:4-5


C. Deuteronomy 7:7-8, 13; 10:15; 23:5; 26:18-19; 32:11-12; 33:3, 12 God loves his obedient people


D. Proverbs 15:9 loves them that follow after righteousness


E. Jeremiah 31:3 Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love. 32:41 "I will rejoice over them to do them good."


II. We will not be forgotten: Isaiah 44:21-28


A. Because God created us and redeemed us and saved us

1. Isaiah 43:1 created and redeemed

2. Isaiah 43:2 protects us from fire, 3 ransomed, 7 created for My glory

3. Isaiah 44:22 forgiven, 24 redeemed


B. Romans 8:1 No condemnation for those who walk in Christ, in righteousness

1. 8:28 all things work together for good to those who love God ... called according to His purpose

2. 8:29 foreknew, predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son

3. 8:30 called, justified, glorified

4. 8:31 God is For us

5. 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ.

6. 8:37 We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us

7. 8:39 Nothing shallseparate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord


C. Matthew 6:26-33 cares for the birds and adorns the lilies -- how much more He cares for us

1. Matthew 10:29-30 hairs of head are numbered by God

2. John 3:16

D. Ephesians 1:3 Every spiritual blessing is in Christ

1. 2 Thess 2:16-17 loved us and gave us everlasting consolation

2. 1 John 4:9-10 in this was manifested the love of God


III. God Keeps His Promises


A. Hebrews 6:13-18 impossible for God to break His word


B. Isaiah 45:1-7 Example of Cyrus the Great


C. Isaiah 44:26 Confirms and fulfills the messages of His Servant -- Christ Jesus

1. Says Jerusalem will be inhabited (44:27)

2. But Babylon uninhabited (Isaiah 13)

3. After 2700 years of history, it is still true!

-- archaeological hills of ruins

-- modern Jerusalem sits on top of the ancient ruins


D. Isaiah 42:16 I will bring the blind by away they did not know, will not forsake them.

1. Hebrews 13:5 I will never leave you nor forsake you....

-- Deuteronomy 31:6, 8

2. Matthew 11:28-30 take my yoke, find rest


E. Removes all obstacles in the path

1. Isaiah 44:27 says to the deep, "Be dry!"

-- like the Red Sea, Ex 14:13-16, 21-22

2. Isaiah 42:15 remove mountains and hills, v.16 crooked made straight

3. Matt 17:20 (Lk17:6) faith as a grain of mustard seed... moves mountains!


IV. God frustrates liars


A. Isaiah 44:25 signs of the babbler (liars), drives them mad (crazy), turns wise men backward, knowledge becomes foolish


B. I Corinthians 1:18-30 God has made foolish the wisdom of the world.


C. Proverbs 8:1-11 Wisdom cries out (1:20-33)

1. 8:12 Lord possessed me at the beginning

2. 1:24-33 They will call on me, but I will not answer


D. Psalm 37:1-2

1. 37:12-15 The Lord laughs at him

2. Psalm 2:1-5 He shall speak to them in His wrath


E. Acts 12:1-4 Herod beheaded James to further his political ambitions

1. Peter delivered, v. 6-7

2. Herod angry

a. at the guards, v. 19

b. at Tyre and Sidon, v 20

c. Accepted lying praise, v. 21-23... struck down by an angel of God, eaten by worms, died


F. Acts 13:6-12 Elymans struck blind for his deceit, political ambitions


Conclusion

A. We are precious in God's eyes
