In honour of Black History Month, we are making Puff-Puff! This sweet snack is made all over Africa with different names, but it is commonly known as Puff-Puff in Nigeria.
~Preparation~
Set up a clean space, and bring out all the ingredients needed.
In a large bowl pour in:
★ flour
★ yeast
★ nutmeg
★ sugar & salt
★ finally, warm water
Incorporate all the ingredients to make sure that there are no lumps.
Set the dough aside in a large bowl and in a warm place to rise for an hour.
Once the dough has risen, deflate it with your hands, and mix.
Heat the oil to 365F equivalent to medium-high on the stove.
Using any preferred method, scoop the dough into the heated oil
Set a paper towel aside to absorb the oil
Decorate the puff puff! Cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar
And there you have it!

Tips
When adding in the flour, it is useful to use a sieve because it removes the lumps.
The water needs to be WARM, not HOT. Hot water will kill the yeast.
Since Puff-Puff dough tends to be sticky, an ice cream scoop will help.
Use a pan or deep fryer with enough depth and space to ensure the Puff-Puff cooks thoroughly.
Once golden, flip the Puff-Puff.
