RECIPE
~Churros~
Ready in 55 minutes
Ingredients Needed
1 cup (250ml) of warm water
1/4 cup (56g) unsalted butter(at room temperature)
1 Tbsp (13g) granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup (141g) all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Vegetable oil, for frying
A piping bag with a star shaped nozzle
Parchment paper
Coating
1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Preparation
Combine all of your dry ingredients into a medium sized mixing bowl. (granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt)
Then along with the dry ingredients, combine the water, butter, and, last of all, the vanilla extract.
Mix the dough vigorously until it is relatively smooth in texture.
After kneading the dough, let it sit for 5 minutes.
Prepare your piping bag with the star shaped nozzle, and place the churro dough inside. Do not place all of the dough inside all at once, portion it out and place what can fit. Make sure there are no air bubbles.
Heat up the vegetable oil to the appropriate temperature (approximately 360 F - a candy/deep fry thermometer is handy).
Pipe 5-inch strips of dough on a prepared tray with separate sheets of parchment paper, and then drop them into the oil. You can also pipe the strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting them with your kitchen scissors.
Lastly, roll the fried churro in the coating and enjoy!
