EVENTS

JAZZ CAFE 

Hello Ravens! This year’s annual Jazz Café will be taking place on Wednesday April 26th, 2023 from 7-8:30 pm. Snacks will be available at the canteen for purchase. Hope to see you there! 

SPIRIT WEEK 

Eco Ravens is hosting a spirit week from Monday, April 24th to Friday, April 28th. Monday is 

Desert Day, Tuesday is Tropical Tuesday, Wednesday is Avatar Day, Thursday is Animal Day and Friday is Earth Day. Hope to see all of your great attire! 

CLUBS

VOCAL CLUB 

The Vocal Club is starting up at LDH and planning on performing at the multicultural show in May. They will be performing in a Spanish ensemble. Practices are take place on Wednesday and Friday after school in the music room. New members are always welcome. If you would like more information, contact  melany.chaiquin@ocdsb.ca. 

SPORTS

The Raven’s Basketball League has opened its sign-up sheets to grade 9, 10, and 11 boys. The RBL will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from May 2nd to June 8th. For any interested grade nine boys, there will be an open house on April 27 from 3:15 to 4:15 pm. Keep in mind, there is no cost for any of this, and you don’t need extensive experience playing basketball! If you’re interested in joining, visit the LDH Athletics website for the sign-up sheet.

The Senior Girls Soccer team made us proud at a tournament at the University of Ottawa, where they lost a game due to a penalty, tied a game, and won one!

The Raven’s Ultimate Frisbee Club has started up with practices on Wednesday and Friday mornings, and it’s open to ALL secondary students! If you’re interested, find the link to join the Google Classroom on the LDH Athletics website. 

The Junior Girls and Boys Volleyball teams have wrapped up their seasons with lots of hard work, and many achievements to boot.

The Junior Girls Soccer team wrapped up their tryouts a few weeks ago, and now they have a game lined up on Monday, May 1st at John McCrae, and 2 days later on May 3rd they have a game against John McCrae on our field.

The Senior Girls Soccer team has a game at Mother Teresa on Tuesday, May 2nd, and two days later on May 4th they’re playing against Sacred Heart on our field.

UPCOMING EVENTS

GRADUATION

Date of graduation has been pushed back a day to Tuesday, June 27th, 2023. This date was carefully chosen as we did not want it to conflict with exams and Eid celebrations that could take place as early as the evening of June 27th. There will be  2 ceremonies that day, as our graduating class is quite large and we would like to allow students to invite up to 4 guests. This is a wonderful reason to celebrate our graduating students and provide an opportunity for a few caring people in their lives to attend. There will be a link to school interviews in early May, for you to select which ceremony you would like to attend and will do our best to accommodate everyone’s first choice.  

SCHOOL DANCE 

The date for the school dance has been changed to June 2nd. Unlike prom, this dance is open for all secondary students to attend. The theme for this dance will be Hollywood and to dress as your favourite celebrity.  At the dance, you will have the opportunity to take photos with your friends. Bring your friends and get ready for a good time! 

ART SHOW AND COFFEE HOUSE

The art show and coffeehouse will be taking place afterschool on May 11th, 2023. At the coffeehouse, there will be performances from our fellow students. The art show will feature art work from our talented artists at LDH. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the canteen. Be there or be square! 

PROM

Prom is coming up on June 16th, 2023. There are 60 guest tickets available for purchase starting Tuesday April 25, 2023.  Guests must be born between 2003-2006 and will be required to show identification to enter Prom. Contact amy.shanley@ocdsb.ca for more information. 

MULTICULTURAL SHOW

The HOPE club will be running the multicultural show on May 18th. Tickets will be sold later on in May.
