With summer approaching, it’s important to be able to find a way to pass the time during summer vacation! One of the ways we can all enjoy our summer is by relaxing in the sun while listening to music. Now, you might not know what to listen to in the heat, but, I have some great suggestions!
“Sunroof” by Nicky Youre and Dazy
“Sunroof” is an upbeat pop song about this person trying to enjoy and appreciate life, but they can’t get someone off their mind. You may have heard this song on the radio before, or even on TikTok, where it was a viral sensation throughout November.
“Die For You” by The Weeknd
If you’re looking for some chill music to just lay down and listen to, I recommend The Weeknd. “Die For You” is one of my favourites by this artist and it’s a great song to sing along to. The Weeknd’s music focuses on the genre of R&B and I recommend this particular song to anyone who enjoys R&B or Soul.
“Case Départ” by Missy D
As we know, Missy D unfortunately did not get to the finals in the recently ended Manie Musicale but we can still all support her as an independent artist. “Case Départ” is an upbeat rap song with an amazing beat. This song consists of both English and French lyrics and has a captivating music video that I recommend you go check out on YouTube.
“One More Hour” by Tame Impala
“One More Hour” is an alternative/indie song that was released by Tame Impala in 2020. It’s a great song to listen to in the car, or anywhere really. The beat is really easy to follow along to and it’s a really catchy song that’ll have you humming it all day.
“As It Was” by Harry Styles
Although this song was mainly popular in April of 2022, it’s still such a great song to listen to. I definitely recommend putting it on your summer playlist! “As It Was” is about the inability to look beyond the past and although the message is conveyed as melancholic, it’s a very upbeat song.
“Glue Song” by Beabadoobee
The full version of this song having been released mid February of this year, “Glue Song” very quickly gained popularity with its catchy lyrics. “Glue Song” is an alternative/indie song. If you enjoy this song, you should check out the rest of Beabadoobee’s music as she has a variety of alternative/indie songs you can listen to.
“Kill Bill” by SZA
Last, but certainly not least, is my favourite of the 7 songs listed; “Kill Bill”. You have most likely heard this song on either Tik Tok or another vastly popular app/area. “Kill Bill” is an R&B/Soul song with the pretty self-explanatory message of someone who still loves their ex and won’t stop to ensure that they don’t end up with anyone but them. Everything from the rhythm of this song, to the vocals, to the overall vibe of the song is unbelievable.
