LDH: March
March was certainly a fun month at LDH. From the march break, long-weekends, club fairs, and progress reports. In this article you find all important dates, highlights and events happening at Longfields.
Both Panels:
Long-weekend
This upcoming Friday, Good Friday, is on March 29th. Students and staff do not have school on this day. The long-weekend carries over to Monday, with April 1st being off as well. Ravens can also enjoy some more long weekends in April, due to a PD days and the Solar Eclipse.
Intermediate Panel:
LDH’s intermediate fashion club has started! The Fashion club is collaborating with the drama club to design and make costumes for their upcoming productions. The club meets twice a week, Monday and Thursday at first break. New members are welcome to join, all experience levels wanted.
Sports:
Athletic Council
As spring nears, the Athletic department is opening up its tryouts for rugby, baseball, and badminton (intermediates).
Secondary Boys Varsity Rugby had its first tryout Friday, the 22nd at 7:30am. They continue practices on Mondays at 7:30am, through to early April.
Grade 8’s had a movie night on Wednesday the 27th, which changed the schedule for Grade 8 Girls badminton practice to Tuesday morning at 7:30am and the final tryout for Grade 7 Girls Badminton has been changed to Wednesday after school.
Batting season has started for the Ravens too! If you are interested in playing varsity baseball, come out Tuesday March 26th and Thursday March 28th for tryouts. Come to the intermediate gym at 3:15pm to show your interest. Make sure to bring your glove!

Clubs
The Ravens had a club fair during break this past week. The fair was for secondary students to join any clubs they wanted, that they maybe weren't aware of. Did you miss the club fair, and want to sign up for a new club? See the club bulletin board beside the office entrance, in the glass showcase.
Muslim Student Association
The MSA wishes students a Ramadan Mubarak. All LDH Muslims are and non-Muslims are encouraged to give donations to the Sadaqa Food Bank, a food bank which provides for the less fortunate. Please donate closed, sealed and untouched items. Feel free to donate other items too! The MSA is accepting donations of both food and non-food donations every Thursday and Tuesday of Ramadan.
Jewish Student Union
The JSU meets once a month and do fun activities and games, they also do fundraisers and charity events. This month the meeting met on Tuesday, March 26th at Secondary break. The JSU had some pizza and stayed for a fun activity. Both Jewish and non-Jewish students are welcome to join future meetings. See Mr. Gibson in the French Department office (Room 247) for details and room location.
