Teacher's Pets: Canada World Studies and Humanities

Every month The Raven's Call will feature the beloved pets of the various departments at LDH. This month the focus is on the Canada World Studies and Humanities Department!

Tanner Buckets

Mr. Elliot

Tanner Buckets is an 8 year old Potcakin' Boy from the mean streets of Guadalajara, Mexico who loves the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Vikings.

Pepito  Mrs J. Hughes

This is our 12 year old Havanese dog, Pepito. He is super lazy, but we love him because he's like a teddy bear. He loves naps and sits on the couch looking out the window all day. All he wants is for me to come home and sit with him. He's pretty awesome to take along on hikes, especially in the fall.

 Mochi - Ms. Robbins

Mochi was adopted from the Ottawa Humane Society in October 2023. Before ending up in the shelter, Mochi was a stray and they had no idea what her life was like before. I was warned that she was shy in the shelter and would take some time to get comfortable in her new home but from the minute she arrived home, she has stuck to me like glue.

Mochi is a very chatty cat, meowing excitedly for her toys or wet food and making cute little chirping noises when she wants your attention. She's especially demanding when it comes to getting her food on time, either pawing at my shoulder or licking my face to wake me up if she feels I've slept in for too long. Fetch is her favorite game as she often meows to show me her toy that she wants me to throw. Mochi is also sweet, just like the dessert she is named after. Ever since I took her home from the shelter, she has slept next to me every night. When awake, she likes sitting on my lap while I do work on my computer or play video games. Sometimes she even follows me to the kitchen to watch me cook dinner. My heartbreaks whenever I leave the house to travel, but she is always happy to see me when I return.

I had no idea how lucky I was when I took Mochi home from the shelter because she is the sweetest cat I have ever taken care of. There are so many wonderful pets available at the Ottawa Humane Society and I'm happy I found the right cat for me.

Charlie  - Ms. Lee

Charlie is a 4 year energetic pup who loves forest walks, lake life and adventures.

Stella (dog), Frankie and Scarlet  - Mr. Leach

Stella is 8 years old and was secured as a service dog ... but promptly failed her qualifications test because she couldn't allow a stranger to 'attack' a patient. She now works full time protecting the Leach Household from vicious Amazon delivery men, suspicious squirrels and illegally parked birds.

Frankie and Scarlet are about 2- 3 years old (unknown because both are a rescue). Both are loving pets with a total distaste for strangers, loud noises and sunlight.
