World Cup 2026

Every four years there is a soccer tournament where teams from different countries compete against each other, which is called the World Cup. Each year it is held somewhere different. Next year it will be held in Canada, America, and Mexico.
The World Cup of 2026 has more factors to it than you might think. Soccer is the biggest sport economically, with the largest number of fans, and so on. Right now, the qualification stage is happening. The mascots have already been released, Mexico has a jaguar named Zayu, then we have Clutch, a bald eagle, representing America, and, last but not least, we have our dear Maple the Moose representing Canada. In the last World Cup (2022), Qatar spent 220 billion dollars, which is 15 times more than Russia did in 2018 who spent about 14 billion dollars. Qatar is known for its overpriced World Cup. My estimate is that Canada will use about 15 billion dollars. This North American World Cup will be held in Canada, America, and Mexico. Some of the games will take place in Toronto’s stadium which only has about 45,000 seats. Although that may sound like a lot, the average number of people who go to a game is around 54,000. On the other hand, the stadium in Montreal has seats for about 56,000 and can accommodate 60,000 if the floor is used. Unfortunately, despite having the space, Montreal will not be participating in next year's world cup because they said they would not fund the event.
The World Cup will take place between June 11 until July 19, 2026 in Toronto’s and Vancouver’s stadium
