These bars are made with REAL INGREDIENTS. Who wants all that artificial stuff anyways? NOT ME!
Recipe yields 16 bars.
* 2 cups almond flour
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 1/4 tsp baking soda
* 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
* 5 1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup * 1/3 cup natural peanut butter * 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips (semi sweet works too!)
* 1/2 tsp coconut oil
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment, and set aside.
In a large bowl, stir together the almond meal, salt, baking soda, vanilla, and maple syrup to form a dough.
Transfer the dough to the prepared pan, and pat the dough down flat to fit the pan.
Bake 12 minutes on the center rack, then let cool at least 20 minutes before frosting with peanut butter.
Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Spread on top of the peanut butter layer. Chill to set.
