OUTDOOR MAINTENANCE
OUTDOOR MAINTENANCE
Preventing Fascia Damage, Overflowing Gutters, and Overgrowth
Unmanaged plant growth around your rental home can lead to:
Missing fascia boards (allowing pests, water damage, and rot)
Overflowing or clogged gutters (which cause leaks and foundation damage)
Structural intrusion from trees/vines (damaging siding, roofs, and utilities)
PREVENTION STRATEGIES
This guide shows how you can help keep the property in good shape and avoid costly repairs or code violations.
Branches touching or hanging over the roof, gutters, or siding
Tree limbs pushing against the home’s structure
What To Do:
Notify your property manager if trees begin to touch the building
Avoid planting new trees or shrubs without written permission
Do not attempt to trim large limbs—report them instead
Check: Once a month or after any strong storm
What to Watch For:
Vines growing on siding, gutters, or windows
Ivy inside gaps or behind exterior trim
What To Do:
Pull vines away from the siding and dispose of them in yard. waste
Check behind trash bins and sheds where vines often sneak up.
Report the growth if it is too high to reach safely.
Check: Every 2 weeks in warm months (spring to early fall)
What to Watch For:
Leaves or plants sticking out of gutters
Water dripping from roof edges, not downspouts
Sections of gutter pulling away or bent fascia
What To Do:
Do not climb ladders to clean gutters—just report the issue
Let us know if you see birds, bees, or pests nesting in gutters or soffits
Avoid spraying water upward (e.g., with hoses or pressure washers near rooflines)
Check: During or after rainfall
What to Watch For:
Weeds creeping along foundation lines
Bushes touching windows or siding
Hedges blocking pathways or overgrowing fences
What To Do:
Regularly mow, weed, and edge if required in your lease
Trim hedges to keep them 1–2 feet away from the house
Use gloves to pull weeds at the base of the house
Check: Weekly in growing seasons
REPORT ISSUES PROMPTLY
If you notice any of the following, submit a maintenance request immediately:

Cracked or missing fascia boards
Tree limbs scraping the roof
